“As residents working together, we empower positive changes in our community,
building from hope to make the impossible, possible – and building on hope,
which enhances the quality of life for all.”
Our Mission
Since its creation in 1990, STAND has collaborated with residents engaged in innovation in their own neighborhoods, providing an infrastructure for success. STAND has created 85 safe rental units, and over 210 secure, livable homes, 20 of them built from the ground up, and the others through renovation. Thanks to the support of Southeast Stockton residents, we’ve developed cooperative community policing, coordinated between police and residents; scholarships to summer camps; senior assistance from lawn-mowing to handyman work; and picnics and street fairs to help neighbors become family.
Now, with the continuing support of the community, the years of experience we’ve gained working in community policing and affordable housing, we feel that our joint efforts can push further. We’ve built homes — now we’ll build companies. We’ve helped police and community get to know each other — together we can reach the personal and community goals of safe and sustainable neighborhoods. Together we can develop partnerships with the diversity of organizations whose participation we need, to better serve the community for positive change, creating cultural, educational, and economic betterment for all in Southeast Stockton, stabilizing the community well into the future.
